£900,000 for a "blow over" in the Union Jack colours.....And my old man told me being a "Sparky" was a good trade!
We must have something better to spend the money on?
I can't imagine we are "flush" as a country at the moment?

Re: I am in the wrong trade!
I'm sure it would've been a legitimate reason (wink)
Either his mate who runs a paint shop needed a leg up or the jet was in D check anyway so thought they would change the colour scheme

Pretty aeroplanes and dented Jaguars, quite a day for the panel shop.

Yes your not wrong.
I often scrutinise the cars that they use and the Royals and I usually pick up in a few things.
That jag had dent on the real panel when may was the PM

Re: I am in the wrong trade!
I was trying to work that one out, the tug would have hit the other plane first, probably a dropped tow bar, and no one inside to apply the brakes.
They were saying the most important thing was that no one was hurt, bet that is not what they are saying to the person who caused it

Re: I am in the wrong trade!
Well I am back from B and Q, I have a number of huge tins of paint to hand, in Red, White, and Blue.
A small flock roller, and a couple of fine finish brushes, and 400 cans of top off spray lacquer.
I have E-mailed the Pm's office, and offered to do the job for a mere £300,000, a third of the price, and as a "sweetener", I have also offered to sweep the inside of it out, hoover the seats, and give it a quick polish and Covid sanitise, followed by a liberal dose of Febreze.
Wonder if I will get the "great saving to the Nation", paint and tart up job?
I will even take my own cherry picker and ladders to reach the awkward bits.

Re: I am in the wrong trade!
What the mainstream media 'forgot' to mention was that the plane was due for repainting anyway.
Every so many years; a plane has to be stripped back to bare metal for inspection.
I don't know how much more red, white and blue paint costs than grey paint, but ...
I quite like it in its slightly-menacing RAF livery to be honest.
