It's the future lemon!

20 years to build, (Err...cough might take longer!), and only just breaking ground, plus who even knows what transport infrastructure will be the "norm" by then?
Add to that it's currently triple over the initial budget projected before it even starts, and no doubt that will escalate as time progresses, (We have seen it before, on many "costed" projects, just look at cross rail!).
To me a politicians, (with no doubt fingers in the pie), wish list, that no doubt will be hailed at the time of completion, if it ever does, a massive achievement, but by which time has become just old hat and has been surpassed by other transport infrastructure progress! ;)
It has Millennium dome written all over it, only far more expensive and disruptive of course.
So lets think about who will use it, it won't be manual labourers, Sparkies, plumbers, carpenters, or whatever commuting to do a days graft at the other end of the country, it will be business type folks, yet, we are being constantly told just lately that "flexible working online at home", as opposed to centralised/regionalised large offices will become the office staff "new normal" of the post Covid future, so how will it pay for itself if that "new normal" actually comes to fruition?

I can't see the article, but the link has HS2 in it.

One of the amusing things is that there are a lot of nice houses on the market that look very cheap, of course they don't mention that HS2 will be passing near by :)
