Free FT-757 parts

Unread post by Sangoma »

Was the next one inline for rebuilding, but not doing them any more

I have machined the back of the alloy case ( http://g.zs5wo.net/construction-and-pro ... 57-rebuild ), made and fitted new lugs (they are often broken)
Front panel is not too bad, and both halves of the case have been resprayed.

Main board is present, and was working before I stripped it, so the CPU should be OK.
Some of the knobs and buttons are there

What is not there is the PA and filter board, I am keeping that.

Obviously if any one wants it, they collect or send a courier

I've got a use for it but they won't let me out of the country to collect it :D (I have a 757 sitting on the to do shelf that is doing stupid things).

And courier/post would cost the same as another radio :)

Yes, this would be ideal, it is basically a working radio (in pieces) without the PA and filter.

If yours is basically working, it may be worth checking voltages on the logic circuits, it is often just a capacitor. If the CPU has failed, it won't even appear to work, which is quite common.

I "think" the problem is the regular faulty diodes thing, but I don't currently feel like pulling it apart and replacing a gazillion diodes at the moment.

Did take the top off and can see someone "has been in there", so there could be other problems.

I guess I have been lucky, never had one with a diode problem.

But if some one has already had a go at it, I agree that is a major put off.
