I completely agree with the sentiments expressed so far, a true example of British grit and projected hope for millions at the time, at its finest, and a very sad loss indeed.
The really sad thing about history and younger folk today, I guarantee you there will be younger folks currently mumbling "Vera Lynn?...what band was she in then?, I have never heard of her!"
