Re: Silly question
Re-kindling the old thread. I removed the V2000 thing and feeder, and replaced with a dual band antenna, around 6 ft tall. Not sure what it is. I even splashed out on new feeder, Force Zero, which is very similar to the old H100. Decent compression plugs as well. Still the same problem. I checked th...

Re: Silly question
Current feeder is RG213, for a run of 12 metres max. Can't remember exactly. Through the wall, up the outside of house to chimney. For the costs involved I will just change the lot, no point messing about. I have never been one for the final tenth of a dB, but what is up I expect to work, and this h...

Re: FT8 2 metre record
Waiting the confirmation, as I said, as he finds it unbelievable, as do I.
Would be nice, it's in excess of 6,000km.

Re: FT8 2 metre record
Thanks,
If that is current record then he has beaten it.
Awaiting email confirmation from the other station.

FT8 2 metre record
Anybody know what distance record is for a confirmed contact on 2 metres on FT8?
Asking for a mate, who had a contact (unconfirmed) that he does not believe can have taken place.

Re: Silly question
Okay lads, gonna throw this one out for the craic - My money is on faulty coax, the reason behind my theory is power. lets say you have one or several micro-fractures in the coaxial cable, on RX this is significant why? Because there isn't enough voltage to breakdown the air in the micro-fractures,...

Re: Silly question
Thanks for the reply, stations are similar in terms of feeder lengths, mine may be slightly longer. Both using RG213, mate does not have a pre-amp. Mine is 3 band white stick (V2000), he is using a 3 element. His antenna is lower, so less feeder loss (if that could be a factor), but I have an advant...

Silly question
his may appear to be a daft question, but all the best questions are...... I operate mainly on two metres, and for some time I have had doubts about my antenna system. Using a tri-band vertical on the chimney (6/2/70) and good radios. I have checked radios on sig gen, including FT847, IC746, and FT2...

Re: What Ham have you done today.
A funny week. Not a lot of radio, more auto and domestic stuff. Fitted new door lock to front door, 1st coat paint. Bled and rebuilt all brakes on my truck, so it now stops when I hit the middle pedal. I bought a Tokyo antenna coupler, 9 band rather than 6 band FC901 I was using. Built like a privvy...

Re: Malta
Please do! I was over there last year and always make a point of calling for QRP or mobile stations. Best contact I had was a bloke in the New Forest on a Wonderwhip and 817. I think I was more chuffed than he was...... And then I pissed off a german by referring to him as an alligator, big mouth, n...
