If anyone is interested in reading up on VHF/UHF propagation, antennas, feeders, the advantages and disadvantages of pre-amps and power amplifiers here are a couple of books that I'd recommend.
Both are probably out of print, but if you go to the local library and give the title and ISBN to the librarian, they should be able to order a copy for you to borrow, even if the only copy left is in the British Library. If you are in luck, you may find some Amateur Radio books in the library section numbered 621, but my main library, in Chesterfield, seems to have removed many of them now.
The 1st book is called "The VHF/UHF DX Book" Published by DIR Publishing Ltd. ISBN 0 952 04 56 0 6.
The other, which is a bit out of date on the antenna and equipment front, but the propagation section is still useful, is the "VHF UHF Manual" by G. R. Jessop (G6JP). Published by RSGB. ISBN 0 9 00612 63 0. This one achieved near cult status back in the 1970s and was often referred to as "Jessops" in VHF/UHF circles.
