Well I've had many a radio, right big list of them, so Ill start writing in this section about them, starting with what's on the bench right now.
First out of the box its a big rig!
Very similar to the icom 7700, but the front area is larger and well thought out.
Most radios you can get away without even looking at the manual, I tried that with the 990, but had to take a look lol.
Impressive radio, screen is clear and larger than my 7700 and 7800, sharper as well. I cant remember now, but I think you have 109 buttons to play with on the front panel!
On air, after spending sometime with John, EI2HW set the audio up with the inboard EQ, believe me, you need help with this baby!
But John spent a lot of time with me, using the Neewer NW-5200 microphone I get outstanding reports.
Drive, radio is a 200W beast, variable from 5W to 200W.
What I like about this radio, you can set a ceiling limit for each band, so its great for not overdriving an amp! I only need 5W of drive to produce 300W from the Acom1200S, talk about the amp later. So around 6W or so will see legal UK limit of 400W.
I will add more as I find out more about this fine rig, so far its a pleasure to operate.
John.
